do tourists get soaked more than the people who live there? I hear they intentionally go for tourists

I do not think they soak tourists more than locals, just tourists get annoyed and that causes more water to be thrown on them. They seem to be looking for a reaction. If you react then you are sure to get soaked. Most Thais are respectful and if you do not want water thrown on you most will not, however the farangs do not seem to care and soak everyone. Picture a Thai mother going to work riding her bike with kids aboard and getting hit with a bucket of ice cold water. Where is the fun in that?
