Songkran Australia 2009

songkran in Brisbane, Australia at Wat Thai Buddharam on April 19th, 2009. songkran is Thailand’s New Year and the Thai community of Brisbane and Gold Coast celebrated songkran at the Brisbane Temple. Over 5000 people attended including the Thai consulate General and Australian politicians. This isn’t my best movie, I left my Tripod at home and some of the footage is a bit jerky, but it shows the great time everyone had during a sunny Brisbane Autumn day, miss Songkran and some great Thai dancing.

What are some good places to visit or stay in Thailand?

I am graduating from college in May and I am trying to plan a trip to Thailand with two good friends. I want to go somewhere exciting near the beach. I want to go somewhere that really encompasses Thai culture, with beautiful landscapes and such. Also, I want to stay in an area that is safe for western tourists

Thailand culture?

My friends who are Thai sadly lost their baby on the day of of the childs birth. I was wondering what the mourning period is in the Thai culture as well as what would traditional be done by friends as a means to express how sorry they are. Perhaps there isn’t but I would like to express my sorrow in what ever way is culturally appropriate. I mean this sincerely just to be clear.
